| NEW FAMILY ORIENTATION
We offer two New Family Orientations each school year; one in August and another in January -just prior to the first day of school. During these orientation sessions, you will be welcomed by our school leaders, tour the school with our student ambassadors and have easy access to useful information to help ease your transition all in one day and location. All new families are encouraged to attend the orientation. If you arrive mid semester, you may come to the next orientation session
| STAY CONNECTED -SCHOOL WIDE COMMUNICATIONS
Focus from TKS:Our weekly parent e-newsletter, The Focus, is delivered each Thursday during the school year and is required reading to inform families of upcoming, timely, and important information. We"ll send this to the email address you registered with us, and also to our Division Level WhatsApp Groups.
Division Level WhatsApp Group:Division level WhatsApp groups are one-way communications used to broadcast important reminders, time sensitive information, opportunities to get involved at TKS and other helpful division specific level to keep you informed. The links to join these groups are shared in at New Family Orientation and again in the Focus Newsletter.
Social Media:Follow us on social media to keep up to date with what"s happening daily at TKS. Join us on Facebook and Instagram for our celebrations of students, students news and events.
You’ll also find us on LinkedIn for professional announcements and celebrations.
Toddle:The school uses Toddle as its Learning Management System (LMS). Teachers rely on the platform to organize and assess student learning, while parents can easily monitor their child"s inquiry-based learning, classroom activities, and academic progress through Toddle. To access their child"s Toddle class, parents must sign up for Toddle Family using the email address stored on PowerSchool. This can only be accessed after their child has been admitted to TKS.
If you're experiencing any trouble accessing Toddle, kindly reach out to toddle@thekaustschool.org
PowerSchool:PowerSchool (PS) is the school’s student information system (SIS). Parents, students, and teachers access this platform to review and update important student information ranging from health, attendance, schedules, and reports. In addition, PS is used by parents to submit forms and re-enrollment.
Parents will receive an email on how to activate their PS account upon their child"s enrollment to TKS. If you encounter any issues accessing the platform, please reach out to powerschool@thekaustschool.org for assistance.
| DRESS CODEStudents are expected to wear clothing that is appropriate for the activity, the climate, and for the expectations and customs of our host country and the KAUST community. Clothing, hairstyles, jewelry or makeup should not distract or interfere with the social and learning climate at school.
| GET INVOLVEDOur Parent Connection (PC) is a great way to connect with other parents and get an inside glimpse into your child’s school and activities. The Parent Connection offers opportunities to hold long term positions or simply volunteer for an hour at a time at one of our events, in our spirit store and more. We know that our parent community has a variety of diverse talents and gifts to offer. If you’d like to learn more about how to get involved, please reach out to TKSPAC.Chair@theKaustschool.org
| TUITION, FEES AND CHARGESThe KAUST School (TKS) is a valuable benefit that KAUST provides to its eligible faculty, staff, and postgraduate students, free of charge. However, postdoctoral fellows are required to pay tuition for the third child enrolled at TKS.
TKS charges a nominal IT & Materials Charge to contribute to the cost of technology, supplies, and materials. The monthly charge applies to all students enrolled in TKS via payroll deduction or direct payment over 12 months (August-July). The monthly IT & Materials charge is 160 SAR per month for K1-G5 and 225 SAR for G6-12.
Students admitted to TKS as dependents of eligible service providers, or business partners and consultants are liable for school tuition and fees. School fees are invoiced through KAUST Finance to the relevant service providers or business partners department, who then make their internal payment arrangements with their employees. The collection from consultants (including visiting faculty) is settled individually.
It is important for parents and employers to understand that the tuition is semester-based, and that the contract is for the entire semester. They will be responsible for the payment of the entire tuition regardless of the number of days of school that the student attends. If the student begins school after the beginning of the second semester, the tuition will be only one-half of a full year’s tuition plus the admission fee.
There is no tuition credit or waiver due to illness, vacation, school holidays, missed days due to suspension, expulsion, withdrawal, or other reasons. Students accessing intensive learning support services will be assessed an annual fee.
